Casual/Seasonal Staff Induction- Cherries, 2025
Workplace Occupational Health & Safety
*Your engagement with Valonuma Pty Ltd, is on a casual basis plus 12% Superannuation.
Prime Super
is our primary superannuation fund.
* All employees are expected to work 5 days per week, and it is up to the individual if they to choose to work 7 days per week, at no additional loading. Hours for the working day are determined by Shed Manager but are normally an 8-hour working day with adequate rest breaks.
*Required
Documentation: -
*All employees are required to supply taxation file number, bank account details, work visa (passport numbers) or proof of Australian residency, residential address and email address.
*Work visas MUST be brought on the first day.
*2nd Year Visa Forms. Should you require 2nd year visa 1263 form to be completed please make sure they are handed into the payroll office before completion of employment. They will then be attached with your final pay slip. NO forms will be filled in after employment has ceased.

Entering the Packing Shed

Staff Amenities and orchard is at your own responsibility. You have a duty of care for yourself and your belongings.
*Personal Belongings
We recommend that personal belongings and valuables are
not
brought to work. If they are it is your responsibility to keep them safe and secure. Valonuma Pty Ltd are not responsible for loss or damage of personal belongings on our property.

Alcohol and Drugs Policy
-
During employment there is a zero Alcohol and Drug usage policy during working hours, within the Packing Shed and Orchards at all times. Should you be under the influence in the workplace, will result in dismissal.
*Export Registration
- Valley Fresh Cherries & Stonefruits is registered for Export to China, Taiwan, and Thailand. As part of these countries protocols, monitoring for pest and diseases is required. Please take note of the pest and diseases listed on the back of this induction. If you notice any of these during your time of employment with Valley Fresh Cherries, can you please notify orchard management.

Please note the packing shed and farm sheds are under security surveillance at all times.
*Social Media Usage
-
the inappropriate use of social media for personal use, defamation, harassment, misleading and deceptive conduct towards other employees or our company will not be tolerated. And may result in dismissal.

PERSONAL HYGINE
• Personnel who have infected cuts, sores, wounds or an infectious disease are not allowed to
handle fresh produce or produce packing materials until the condition is corrected
• (Minor cuts should be covered with a bright blue waterproof plaster, then enclosed in rubber gloves)
• Coats and personal items are to be stored away from the packing shed
•
Before handling fruit or packaging, hands should be washed thoroughly, especially.
After visiting the toilet, Smoking, handling waste food or rubbish
After breaks or meals or any other absence from the workstation. After handling dirty produce or performing
maintenance service on any equipment. After picking objects up from the floor before starting work each day
- Always wear clean, washable protective clothing and appropriate enclosed footwear.
- Take a daily shower.
- Do not sit on or place personal items on the equipment or fruit containers
- Not to wear dangling strings or jewellery. Some jewellery may cause damage to the fruit, so check with the
manager as to which is suitable.
- A hair net or hat/cap must be worn.
- Clean, un-ripped, sanitary gloves or hand sanitiser must be applied before entering the workstation. Not to
take gloves into lunchrooms or restrooms. And have clean cut nails.
- No glass of any sort to be brought into the produce handling or storage area
- Eating and smoking in the designated area
- Long Hair must be tied back.

Allergens
-
Allergens are a major hazard within the process of harvesting and packaging. Please be mindful of the following: -
- Personal Hygiene
- Food in a dedicated area, lunchroom only
- No food in the pack house or anywhere near the produce.
- Always wear protective clothing, gloves, hair nets etc. while handling produce.
- Washing your hands after eating, smoking and visiting the bathroom.
- And Sanitise your hands before handling produce.
- Please be mindful of consuming eggs, milk, nuts etc.. as others around you may be allergic to these products. Dispose of
rubbish correctly, clean and disinfect your areas, and wash/sanitise your hands.
*Report injuries
If you suffer injuries or illness whilst at work, report it to your supervisor. First aid kits are located in the Packing Shed, Machinery Shed and in all vehicles.
*Emergency
-In case of an emergency within the orchard, stop work, evacuate from the orchard to the end of the picking row and wait for supervisor instructions.
-In case of an emergency within the packing shed, stop work and evacuate to the emergency assembly area located in the parking lot.

Un-Lawful behavior
- workplace harassment, sexual harassment, or unlawful behaviour will not be tolerated. Should a situation arise, it may result in instant dismissal. And if necessary, the police will be called to deal with this behaviour.

- you must get a parent or guardian to consent to your employment.

Should you require on farm accommodation!!
PARK RULES AND REGULATIONS:
Camping fees are set within your employee induction.
The amenities and shower block
are kept clean by
everyone
in the camp via a roster system, which is posted in the laundry area. Cleaning includes hosing out the showers and toilets daily with disinfectant.
Washing Machines are
provided for your convenience:
please do not overload them.
i.e. 2 pairs jeans, 2 light shirts and accompanying underclothes are plenty. Make sure to allow plenty of room for water to fill and agitate the clothes. Please switch machines off when not in use.
Power and water
are provided for you. (But please do not waste them unnecessarily, as there is a limited supply.)
Power leads
should be placed in a safe manner, in a way that to not pose a danger to other park guests. Please check with the camp supervisor if uncertain.
Please be aware of lightning Storms.
During a lightning storm, please vacate the orchard and camping sites. And shelter in a safe location. e.g. enclosed building or vehicle.
No Dogs
allowed in the park.
Lights out
in the park are at 10pm, and quiet hours are from 9pm to 5am the following morning.
Swimming in farm dams is not permitted at any given time.
